Testimonials - Camp GLOW 2012 and 2013
"My basic experience at Camp GLOW is one that I can never forget. It was a once-in-a-lifetime experience which taught me about myself - who I am and what I hold as a person. Camp GLOW taught me about gender [versus sex] and that leadership is about being in a position of guiding others in a good way. The best experiences I had were engaging in the GLOW Olympics, going to UNAM, Parliament, Wernhill Park Mall and having visitors who helped us discover which professions suit us well and the procedures we have to take to accomplish our goals."

"This week was really awesome. I learnt about the different ways of being a leader and how to interact with other leaders. I learnt about the ways in which stereotypes prevent people from getting to know each other. When I get back to school I will definitely encourage my fellow learners to never give up, no matter what obstacles might be in their way, and to always be self confident and creative."

"Now that I am a leader, i would like to encourage and inspire people out there to believe in themselves and to fight through every challenge that might come their way!"

"Camp GLOW was life-changing for me. I had a chance to learn something from the kids. I know the whole thing was for the kids but for once in my life I got to discuss some topics openly in a group e.g. HIV/AIDS, sex, stereotypes and gender and equality.
Camp GLOW has also made me come to a realization that we have the power to change our surroundings and attain our dreams through sharing, education, teamwork, understanding each other and dedication. All that we did at GLOW, if applied on a global scale, could take our world to another better level. Camp GLOW helped strengthen my listening and speaking skills.
Most of all I had FUN! Fun is an understatement. I had a blast! I enjoyed the games, activities and sharing a laugh with campers at all times. I had fun with my group while Racing to the Moon! Camp GLOW taught me never to hold back but to follow my dreams. Camp GLOW rocks and should be applied worldwide for the betterment of our world through enriching and guiding the youth at a tender age. Thanks for Camp GLOW, mostly for the friends I made and for giving me a chance to contribute, and for all the great unique special hundred and something people I met! Thanks!"

An e-mail from one teacher whose learners attended Camp GLOW 2012:
"I talked to the learners from my school who went to Camp Glow today
and I just wanted to share how much it meant for them and say thank
you to you and whoever else made it happen. I have seriously never
seen them so happy- their faces completely lit up when I asked about
camp and they could not stop smiling. They had so much to tell me and
seemed a lot more confident about speaking English than usual, which
is pretty impressive after just a week of camp. They loved everything-
the people, the food, the games, seeing Windhoek, future day,
competitions, the new ideas, meeting learners from other regions,
having their names on the doors to their rooms, EVERYTHING. They are
so inspired, hopeful, and confident, and it's absolutely wonderful to
see.
I'm sure you saw lots of that excitement from lots of learners during
camp, but I just wanted to make sure you know how big of an impact
Camp Glow made in my learners' lives and say thanks. I can't even
imagine how much work went into making everything happen, but judging
by my learners' huge smiles, it was worth it."
